Recent accomplishments

Currently, I'm the Director of First Step Technology Center at the Martin Luther King Jr. Apartments in Seattle, one of the nation's very first "Community Technology Centers" to provide computer access for low-income housing residents and the surrounding community.

When I started my position, I found both the old computers and the underutilized lab nearly at a standstill. After a needs assessment, I developed a long-term plan and proposal to regenerate the lab. Once specifications were developed and a budget was approved, I began product research and working with vendors to purchase new workstations. While fixing up and giving away the old lab computers to residents, I installed the new Dell XP stations and software along with a new hub and firewall, laid new network cable, and set up security protocols, a new server and user accounts. I currently manage the lab efficiently with inventory and tracking systems, user and security protocols that I developed. Today the computer lab is a thriving and sustainable community center providing secure computer and Internet access to more than 100 users.

Previously, as Information Resources Manager for the University of Washington's Northwest Center for Public Health Practice, I transitioned all course materials and numerous public-facing and intranet sites to a sustainable new server and content management system and successfully trained staff in all content management processes. I also helped the Center evaluate and implement a new outsourced learning management system.
